Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance
Every last one of us Americans remember that Day so vividly as to never ever leave our minds. We each remember exactly where we stood and what we were doing that horrific Day. Here are some facts that we remember:
“During the September 11 attacks, 2,996 people were killed: 2,977 victims and 19 of the perpetrators. These immediate deaths included 246 victims on the four planes, 2,606 victims inside the World Trade Center and in the surrounding area, and 125 victims at the Pentagon”. (en.wikipedia.org)
“The 9/11 Memorial opened on September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the attacks. The 9/11 Memorial Museum opened on May 21, 2014. It is located beneath the Memorial plaza. where the Twin Towers once stood”. ( 911memorial.org/)
“It includes Guest Books and profiles of those lost. Originally launched in September 2001, the site has received more than 6 million visitors and more than 200,000 Guest Book entries”. (http://www.legacy.com/sept11)
“Various health programs have arisen to deal with the ongoing health effects of the September 11 attacks. The World Trade Center Health Program, which provides testing and treatment to 9/11 responders and survivors, consolidated many of these after the James Zadroga Act became law in January, 2011”.
These health concerns continue to this day. The equally serious mental health concerns continue as well, even though invisible to the eye.
